Animal Yard

The farm community around Cegléd developed before the 1960s and it nowadays only exists in traces. Typically, the farms were a combination of residential houses and farm buildings surrounded by kitchen garden, orchards and vineyards.

The animals were raised with fodder produced on the farm, in the neighboring fields, and with the by-products from the garden and the kitchen.

The eggs, milk, meat, and fat produced at the farms covered partially the families needs, but they also reached the city market. The products were typically transported by horse-drawn cart.

Horses and cattle, as draft animals, also played an important role in agriculture. Our aim is to authentically present the keeping of indigenous and domestically bred breeds in a real working farm at Béni.
